Why would ice melt faster in water rather than Milk or hershey’s Syrup?

A:
Ice will melt more quickly in water because water is less dense than either milk or Hershey's Syrup. (Milk is about 3% more dense than regular water.) The reason that this matters is the same as for why ice melts faster in tap water than in salt water, a question that we've actually explained already.
