Q:
I you color tap water with food coloring will it effect the evaporaton of the water?

That's a good question for two reasons:
1) I don't know the answer.
2) You can do a simple experiment to find the answer yourself.
Take
two saucers and measure out exactly the same volume of liquid onto each
(one tablespoon, say). Onto one saucer put plain tap water, and onto
the other put water that you have already mixed with food coloring. You
might try a whole set of saucers, each one with a different
concentration of coloring mixed in. Put the saucers in a place where
the temperature is even and there are no drafts. Now wait and see which
one dries up first.
