do magnetism or magnetic fields operate at a certain frequency ?
- Barrie (age 42)
Magnetic fields can be either DC or AC at any frequency. For example if you wrap some wire around a soft iron core and run a DC current through it with a battery then it will pick up some bits of magnetic materials like nails. Likewise if you run an alternating current through the wire the magnetic field will be AC but will still attract the nails.
